The Department of Computer Hardware Repair & Maintenance at Idofed Polytechnic provides practical, industry-focused training in diagnostic testing, component-level repair, hardware installation, and preventative maintenance for computer systems and peripheral devices.
Our mission is to train skilled hardware technicians and IT infrastructure specialists who can troubleshoot complex hardware failures, maintain reliable enterprise networks, and support modern computing environments across public and private sectors.
Program Objectives
Master Hardware Architecture: Gain a deep understanding of motherboard design, processor architectures, power supply units, memory modules, storage technologies, and peripheral interfaces.
Fault Diagnosis & Troubleshooting: Develop expertise in systematic hardware diagnostics, BIOS/UEFI configuration, circuit testing, and fault isolation using industry-standard tools.
Assembly, Upgrades & Commissioning: Build customized computer systems from components, perform hardware upgrades, and execute precise hardware configuration tests.
Peripheral & Network Equipment Servicing: Repair and maintain essential hardware devices, including printers, monitors, power backups (UPS), and local networking equipment.
Workplace Safety & Standards: Implement proper Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) handling protocols, safety procedures, and technical documentation practices.
